Insurance query

I think I know the answer to this but thought I'd check with the PH massive to be sure.
In the past I had two cars and to my surprise, found that the NCB from my first car couldn't be applied to my second car. As such, I had to build up a second NCB.
After 5 years, I sold the second car and after that had an accident in my first car, resulting in a claim.
I'm about to buy a second car again - does the accident/claim on my first car apply/affect to the NCB on my second car?

How long is it since you've had a second car? Most insurers will only accept NCB within last two years.I'm about to buy a second car again - does the accident/claim on my first car apply/affect to the NCB on my second car?
It used to be possible to work around this with introductory discounts / bonuses, but I think the recent rules about not quoting new customers lower than existing ones may have messed that up.
I don't know what's normal now, but some insurers seem to build NCB faster than I remember - there's a chart with my LV= renewal which shows NCB after 1 yr is 60%.
A multi-car policy may work - never had one of those.

Sold my second car in June 2022 so I'm currently within the two years however I will double check when taking out any additional policies. It used to be possible to work around this with introductory discounts / bonuses, but I think the recent rules about not quoting new customers lower than existing ones may have messed that up.

Thanks for the heads up.
