My neighbour has caught someone filming and taking photos of their car for around 20 minutes. A lady with a small child. I have seen the footage and it does seem odd. It is an expensive car but there are lots of flashy cars in the locale amongst the dross. They are going to report to the police but wondered why someone would take such lengthy interest in car - even if it was to steal it you wouldn't want to hang around that long!

Bentley Continental. I do take a gander myself when I walk past as well but as a car person with no bad intentions. This woman was sniffing around for at least 20 minutes.

Kudos for living in a locale where your neighbour rolls a Bentley Corniche.. but therein lies the answer I suspect - I’d wager she was just an over enthusiastic enthusiast.

OTOH if the subject car was Golf R Audi RS/S BMW M or Range Rover alarm bells would (and literally should) be ringing.

Bentley Corniche , whilst very desirable to some, is IMO not the sort of vehicle that the thievery by classes will target (and if they did , they would be far more discreet than the woman with the camera) ..

Nothing to worry about IMO 👍

Bentley Corniche would attract a lot of attention I suspect.

Continental not so much - available on Autotrader from about £12k.

It wouldn’t be the first time that someone innocuous-looking is sent out to do reconnaissance for crims.

On the other hand she may have just really liked the car and wants one just like it.

Nevertheless a report to the police sounds like a good idea.

Is it a special edition Conti?

A neighbour of mine has a lovely GT Speed Edition 12 (IIRC) which is reasonbly rare (only 120 made) and ive seen people take pics of it but it just lives on his drive so is always around to be seen if desired.

On the other hand, who spends a full 20 mins taking photos of a car they intend to steal? A few quick snaps and done, surely?

Maybe she’s going to use it to set up a fake ad to scam people with.

Edit: maybe keep an eye out on the usual selling sites

Get it up on Facebook quickly. Were there any cable ties on the nearest lamp post?

That's the odd bit. Neighbour:- "They [woman with child in tow] stayed back and forth for almost 20 minutes, and kept taking pictures of my car. It feels like she is reporting the situation to someone, she has been recording video while calling."

They have CCTV with motion detection and also fitted an electric sliding gate. So the videoing was done from the pavement.

Pointless reporting it to the police as no offence has taken place. Personally I'd just get on with my life & forget about it.

Maybe she's using the pics on her social media account/s if she spent some time getting the right shots.

In fairness, a Bentley Corniche is more likely to be seen in an undesirable locale

"Corniche"? Are you both sure about that? Is there any such animal?
