Mazda ( dealership ) want to charge £222 for an " Intermediate " service ( 2017 Mazda 3 with 31K on the clock )
I assume this means Interim as opposed to Full service.

The last service was bang on a year ago and covered...Brake Fluid, Cabin Air Filter, Oil and oil filter, Visual health check and a summer health check ( this was done just before I bought the car from Mazda ( used approved ) This would most likely have been a full service ?

Does that sound about right, £220 ?
Obviously MOT is being done at the same time which is an extra £54

Thanks smile

Probably the robbing barstewards.

VW were £180 for interim and £220 for full pre-covid from what I can remember.

Now it's £220+ and £280+

Cambelt and water pump gone from £599 to £699+

As far as main dealers go at the moment, I think it's about right to be honest.

Remember their hourly rate is usually around £100 regardless + oil, filters + markup.

Sounds about right in the current market, had my MX5 serviced and gearbox and diff oil changed a couple of months ago and that was £320 - £120 was the gearbox and diff oil change.

Does it sound like I should get a full service instead ?
Just been doing some reading and aparrently as I do 12,000 a year it could be a better option ?

It will be on a schedule, normally minor (oil, filter + pollen filter) vs major which replace other filters on top. Sometimes at certain intervals (like every 40k or something) it would also include spark plugs.

If it had a major last year then it will only need a minor this year.

It's 6 years old. Don't take it near a main dealer.
Oil and filter is all it needs this year. £50 and diy?

Is it right? No

Is it the going rate? Probably!

Personally there's no way I'd be taking a 6 year old car to a main dealer.

I think a small garage would do a better job!

My 308 still goes to main dealer as my neighbour is a technician there so labour costs are cheaper than any garage. Oil + Filter was £65.00 recently

Same here. I've just had an intermediate service done on an old focus for £126 using a local mobile mechanic.

Why pay more on an old car?
