If this gets into the front pages of the news, panic buying will be exactly what happens and will cause far more issues than the strikes ever would.

No, I am even smugger in winter jumping into my pre-heated EV whilst all around are scraping the ice off their ICE windscreens.

Nice!

But EV owners don't actually go anywhere apart from the supermarket, retail parks on a Sunday and the gym to flex! biggrin

I don't have a major problem - 3 cars at home (all already filled), 2 parked at my parents (one 1/3rd full and the other not sure), and the beast of a diesel Passat that can do 800+ miles to a tank if my bladder would allow it and I drive like a granny (and everyone drives like a granny during fuel supply issues).

Not me.

I have been doing lots and lots of miles in the last few weeks in my EV because Octopus have been giving away free electricity almost every afternoon because the wind has been blowing or the sun shining and turning down free 'petrol' seems a sin and the 'tank' is full.

Last time we had this shortage, I managed 620 miles on a tankful (335d at 56-60mph on the motorways). I filled my tank up yesterday.

Any strike action will likely result in fuel AND food shortages, so having an EV won't help much!

I’m struggling to think why anyone would think driving an EV is worth that effort. Reckon cross stitching might be more exciting.

Yes, they're just not cars that you'd ever take out a fun drive. Owners hate to hear this though.

I’m going to be balanced. Yes EV’s suck in winter, on properly cold weeks the range is nearly 50% of the original stated amount (which is always wildly wrong to start with as we know)… but the preheat is lovely.

Having done 20k miles in just over a year in my EV, I can see the pro’s and con’s. I’m happy that Mrs Calisen has a decent ICE to use on those longer trips put it that way!

Back to original point…. I hope we don’t go back to fktards panic buying fuel, pasta and toilet rolls. Give me strength

Exactly right. As a functional, cheap to run (and acquire if a co car / Sal sac) and comfortable mode of transport they work. Exciting and fun, they are most definitely not.

What exciting like a petrol car? Like a Toyota Corolla. Or a Nissan Juke. Or a Honda Jazz? That sort of exciting and fun?

You could say the same thing about 99% of the ICE cars on the road, except the ICE are not cheap to run...

Exactly. Most car owners don't go out for drives for the fun of the drive. Mostly they just want to get somewhere and even if it's a pointless Sunday drive it's because they want to look out of the windows, chat about stuff and possibly stop for a nice lunch.

Other than PHers the general public couldn't give a toss how exciting their car is to drive, it's a very low priority to most. Was only a matter of time before this became an EV bashing thread
