Car insurance/crash issue
Discussion
I'll try and keep this simple.
I was driving my sisters car, covered via 3rd party as I'm insured on my own vehicle
Someone pulled out in front of me at a junction and i ran into the side of them. Completely there fault, police officer was a witness, police attended the scene etc
My insurance dont even want to know about it. My sisters insurance are happy to deal with the car, but have said I wouldn;t be entitled to a courtesy car etc. As a non fault claim, does anyone know hoe I deal with this? Do I hire a car and it gets charged to the other insurance company? Do I try speaking to someone else as they weren;t very helpful
Any ideas would be helpful. Weird situation that I've never had to deal with before

Were you a driver on your sister's policy. If so, her comp insurance (I assume) will deal with the claim and your DOC cover won't apply. If you weren't a driver on her policy, they shouldn't be doing anything. You probably only have tpo cover on your DOC cover, and as you aren't at fault, your own insurer don't have anything to do. It's up to you to recover the cost of damage from the third party or their insurer.

Are you certain you had 3rd party cover? Not all insures give this automatically.I was driving my sisters car, covered via 3rd party as I'm insured on my own vehicle

Other than that as Twig says, the damage is only claimable againt the other party, not either of 'your' insurers.
Hmmmm...you could hire a car but it might be a bit of stretch to justify hiring a car to replace one that wasn't yours in the first place.
Ideally the 3rd party's insurer would take care of this - in the two accidents we've had in one case they were keen and in the other completely ignored us. I guess you could try and get an accident management company involved but that might not be easy again due to it not being your car and also that your sister's insurerer is already involved.
DOC is a can of worms - you really shouldn't be routinely relying on it.

I definitely have 3rd party cover. Have spoken to both insurance companies.
I understand it'll all end up with the 3rd partys insurer, its just what happens in the meantime as neither insurance companies seem too bothered. Do I just have it recovered to a repairer and do one of these non fault claim things?
I'm not a named driver on my sisters policy. In hindsight, yes I should have been but thats why its called hindsight

If it's as cut and dry as you say
I wouldn't worry about speaking to your insurance company or your sisters. Go straight to the 3rd parties insurance and deal direct with them to repair your car and provide a courtesy car.
If you can't deal with the hassle, go via an accident management company

If you weren't a driver on your sisters policy, you were wrong to even tell them. It's got absolutely nothing to do with them. You were right to tell your own insurer, just in case the third party decided to blame you. But, that aside, of course they aren't bothered, why would they be? You have tpo cover, that was your choice. You've had a non fault claim. It's totally on you to sort it all out and claim off the other party. That's the risk you take driving with tpo cover.
So in short, yes, you need to arrange recovery, you need to get the tp insurance details, you need to liaise with them, etc. etc.
