Hi all

Incredibly long shot but just had a call from very distressed wifey having been hit by a lorry who subsequently drove off.

She was at walking pace, in traffic, having left Egham heading leicester (towards the m4) about 5:30pm and she stopped and the lorry behind her hit the car.

He gestured for her to move around the corner, which she did because she felt it was too busy to hop out where she was (not clear on the road yet) and he promptly decided to bugger off into the distance and leave her stressed and crying at the road side. What a hero.

She’s sketchy on the details, but says it was a white lorry with red lettering and definitely either ‘Anderson’ or ‘Anderton’. Sadly she couldn’t get the index either.

Hoping the power of pistonheads might help me figure out the likely suspects so I can show her some pictures later. biggrin

I found this which could be it.

Meanwhile she's now sat in a services collecting herself and calming her nerves, currently refusing to drive home. frown

Report it to the police of not already done.

Have a look on street view along the route near and up to the point it happened. You might find cctv outside a shop or something that could help identify it but hurry as they might well be on a loop and overwrite after a day or two. GDPR and all that might mean they won’t show you the footage but a friendly chat will often get them to check and if it dos have something the police can request a copy.

It's too late, and this might sound sanctimonious but when you have everything sorted please got front and rear cameras.

The car has a front camera. Not a rear. I suspect it’ll not show anything from what she’s described

My wife went through exactly the same, had the name of the haulier but not the reg. Haulier told her insurance company the unit had been rented out and without the reg could not identify who to - surprise, surprise.

Anyway she had several independent witnesses confirming it was not her fault and her insurer treated it as a no fault claim.

She’s back. It turns out this happened on the m25! Approaching the m4 turn off. This is why she didn’t get out of the car to discuss/ take a picture

The driver gestured her to move to the shoulder. She did. He gestured a further ‘no no’ and lived her further onto the m4 slip.

Then he buggered off down the m25. bd

She took this out the rear window before moving off, obviously assuming she would get details when stopped

Has she phoned the police? They might have it on camera.

If it's not, there must be another company with a very similar interlocking 'o' logo and a fleet of Volvos.

So many people have ring doorbell cameras, I'd be knocking on people's doors, I'm sure many will help knowing the situation.

I'm not convinced there will be much Ring Doorbell footage of this.

That’s them. Ring and ask for the transport manager in the morning. Ask for them to check the log/trackers for a vehicle on that road at the time stated as you will be reporting a hit and run incident to the Police involving one of their wagons.

How could you tell? Was it the utterly atrocious effort at a rear window? hehe

The wife has one, that window bar (and no rear wiper) are the only things that spoil an otherwise superb car.
