Abt creates limited edition Urus 'Scatenato'

'Scatenato' means 'unleashed' in Italian - 810hp ought to see to that

Having a group engine common to many installations is great news for the aftermarket, because - in theory - upgrades can work for one should be suitable for all of them. Abt used to be known primarily for Audi tuning, of course, but with the RS6’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 now found under many other bonnets, from Cayenne to Continental GT, it can afford to broaden its offering a little. Hence the 810hp Abt Lamborghini Urus…

This is the Scatenato, and just 99 examples will be built. According to Abt, ‘Scatenato’ translates along the lines of ‘raging’, ‘wild’ and ‘unleashed’. No Lamborghini Urus has ever been modest; a Lamborghini Urus Scatenato couldn’t be anything but outrageous. To that end Abt provides ‘visual fireworks’ in the shape of a carbon engine cover and dramatic new bodykit that comprises the front spoiler with centre blade, hot hatch-style rear spoiler and a diffuser that looks like it’s been taken from a piece of farm machinery. Additional downforce is promised.

There’s more carbon we’ve probably forgotten to mention. Those wheels are Abt’s own, 23-inch and forged, while those four titanium exhausts are 105mm in diameter. Because size matters, right?

Under the carbon bonnet decoration sits an 810hp version of the ubiquitous 4.0-litre, up from 666hp as standard for the latest Uruses. That’s been achieved with Abt’s upgraded turbo and intercooler; presumably there’s been an ECU tickle along the way as well. There’s a warranty from Abt that’s three years or 62,000 miles ‘to the extent of the manufacturer’s warranty’.

Carbon abounds everywhere else in the Scatenato, including the dash trim, gear shifter, seat frame covers and even bonnet release lever. Buyers will have the choice of gloss or matt finish. There are bespoke sills to mark this out as not just any other Urus, and some extra badges in case anybody needs help spelling Scatenato.

So the Abt Urus probably isn’t one for the purists, but then you only need look at the success of Lamborghini’s SUV - and the recent broadening of the range - to know that the demand for this sort of stuff undoubtedly exists. Abt seems extremely confident of that, because the Scatenato is a €180k (£155k) upgrade without installation. The latest range of S and Performante models is sufficiently new to be unavailable for much less than £300,000. So, yeah, lots of money, lots of power, and lots of carbon for the Abt Scatenato - expect all 99 uber Uruses to be spoken for sooner rather than later…

I think most might read the first 4 letters of the name and not worry about the rest, also available in brown.

Naming cars is hard.

I know Lambo styling is supposed to be a bit ott and in your face but this is so over-styled it’s hilarious…my eyes don’t know how to focus on it properly

I think that's why I suddenly and for the first time am really liking the Urus for the first time.

It's a bonkers Lambo - as they surely should be!

I see what you see! I do however, like the interior.

The scatman.

Once at a festival, we were very very drunk, we watched a guy go into a portaloo and it was obvious he was downloading a monster turd.
So we rocked the portaloo from side to side, singing “I’m the scatman, de da da da dadada” at the top of our voices.

He came out covered, and we pegged it.

This special edition must just bring out the scat stories and jokes from us all

It would be far better skipping all the dubious body styling and just having the engine mod - with the 105mm quads of course though - oh and also clear glass and silver wheels please.

Me:
"Wow, the Urus really is a gargantuan and hideous monstrosity. That's easily the most tasteless and ugliest Lambo imaginable"

I'm probably a bad person, but I'd love a Urus if I had the means. Not a scatted one though.

They've somehow managed to make the Urus look even worse.

The only way to improve the design of a Urus is to roll it down a hill, preferably a very large one.

£155k - and that's for those that are going down the DIY route. Box of parts to your door presumably assuming delivery included with that.

And about as appealing as one.
