Pretty sure it's midnight at the end of the expiry date.

It is dreadfully poor English from the official site - 'until 11th' could equally mean 23:59 on the 10th.

As the time of the test is listed on the certificate then perhaps it is valid until that same time.

I've always taken it to mean end of the day. But if you want to be 100% confident, you've already said you'll take it tonight if need, so just take it tonight. Zero issues guaranteed that way.

I've asked a few companies on insurance policy matters and the answer I always got back was midnight of the date of expiry.

Not to be that guy but there are multiple threads already on this (that run on for far too many pages rofl)

It's midnight on the day, despite any other ways anyone may attempt to interpret it.

Valid until it becomes the 12th. So 23.59 on the 11th october as I see it

It will be valid until 23:59 on the date of expiry, so tomorrow night. 100%.

The phrase on the DVLA site of 'MOT Valid Until 11th October' is really rather poorly worded. 'Valid until end of' or 'valid up to and including' would be much clearer.
The whole process is set out in Statute, so if you want to know why the answer is midnight on the 11th, you need to find the bit of the Law that says it is. It'll say something along the lines of it being valid for 12 months from the date of test, but there'll be a day's leeway built in because without it the MOT would expire at the same time of day as the test was completed last year. It's rounded up essentially.

"MOT Valid Until the 11th of October" means it is valid until it is the 11th of October, but that is wrong and is caused by the DVLA being idiots.
