I had a call from NavTrak just before 8am this morning to say that my car siren was sounding.

I went to check the car which was street parked around the corner. I found that someone had hit my door and driven off without leaving a note.

A local doorman said he'd heard my siren blaring and seen a white Range Rover stopped by my car. He thought he knew the owner and told me where the car normally parked.

I found the Rangie where he said and found some damage to the rear of that car.

I took photos of both damaged areas. Do they look like they are connected?

Still waiting for CCTV to be sure, but data protection might be an issue.

Thanks in advance.

Wait for CCTV. Looks likely you've found the culprit though.

Agreed - too early for a definitive, but the height and size of damage on your car door seems to bear a striking resemblance to the affected area on that Freelander... scratchchin

It would be well worth re-taking the photos with a tape measure in view to show the height from the ground of the damage on both cars ...

There is no red paint on the other car at all?

You would think there would be something confused

Damage looks too high on the red car.

The aluminium door panel has crumpled further up the door, but I don't think that this was where the impact took place as the paint is unmarked.

I wonder if they reversed into my door lower down and the door was distorted inwards so much that this caused the crumpling towards the window?

Unless the doorman is willing to say that they witnessed that particular Land Rover hit your car, You're on a hiding to nothing, surely? Driveway CSI alone isn't going to prove liability.

That does seem odd with the crease at the top as well

Just waiting for the CCTV footage for that time to be released by the bank who captured it.

Are these paint damage as well? Is this the bit that pushed against the door and caused the creasing, further up?

This is a rough comparison with some witness marks. Based only on the height marked by the highest & lowest scars.

While there are similarities, it doesn't feel like an exact match and as has been said, there's no red transfer onto the white car.

Hope you find out though.

I hope you get the CCTV.

This is why I would not park a Ferrari out on the street in a town or city.

I guess they saw the car they hit and thought "that is gonna be expensive" panicked and drove off. Odd thing is that if they are insured it shouldn't make much difference how much the claim is as its going to be over their excess.

Nothing to add, except OP, I really hope you get the evidence you need. One week after we bought our current car, some coward in Chesterfield Hospital carpark swiped both OS doors, leaving us with a £600 repair bill. The hospital were supine when we asked for the CCTV to be reviewed (it was only a one hour window that the prang could have happened within)
