Bought used car for son and dealer has registered it to me rather than my son. The warranty and purchase info is in my name but I wanted the car registered to my son.

I've read various old discussions on this but how do I go about getting it put into my son's name without adding another former keeper? Apparently I can write to DVLA?

I bought a car which was registered new with the wrong make and colour on the V5C. I wrote to the DVLA and they issued a new one with the correct make, but wrong colour. I then phoned and they issued a 3rd and finally correct document.
So they are willing to accept they have made a mistake.
I don't know if a change of name would be more difficult. I would start with a phone call and ask what documentation they require in order to correct the document, without suggesting they made a mistake.

My niece had a similar problem with her V5c after buying a used car.
Wrote to DVLA and it was sorted without any fuss (just took quite a while!)

Cheers (your situation is closer to mine than SpudLink's as DVLA haven't done anything wrong). I think I'll send it off - don't think I'll be needing the V5C for a while so no real hurry.
