Had an electrical fault with a customers car that we sold which we're obliged to sort under Consumer rights Act, as a small car sales/service we've been unable to resolve it as has a regarded 'specialist auto electrical' company we use.
So next step is to revert to Main Dealer (Nissan), went in today told them customers car was having problems starting due to 'key not being recognised' fault and was given earliest date for technician to see vehicle was 15th January!, tried next nearest Nissan agents and they said 5th February!!, usual £120 for diagnostic check before any work commenced.
Was given the reason for the delay was that a technician had left in October and not yet been replaced.
Can't believe that as customers we put up with this poor level of service from Business that purport to be the 'flagships' of their brand, seems common throughout the industry, perhaps it's because youngsters are happier stacking shelves at Aldi on £11 an hour rather than the stress of being an apprentice technician for £12 an hour so staffing is inadequate, and we as customers have got used to accepting poor levels of service.
Anybody beat 7 weeks waiting time?

hence use an independent specialist - cheaper bills, quicker to get the car in adn a much better customer service. Main dealers are ther to sell new cars only ha ha

Haven’t you got a basic diagnostics dongle?

At least that way you can narrow the fault down a bit, even to the point it may just need the keys reprogramming which I’m sure there are an auto electrician locally whocould help?

Yes, we've got diagnostics and the indy has even better kit but they can't resolve it, the faults not my complaint, it's with the delay from the last port of call, the Manufacturers representative, is this the new normal?.

I called my local Nissan dealer on monday to report some issues with my car (2016 qashqai) & it was in today to be checked over & sorted.

I bought the car from them & have it serviced there too which i think helps.

To be fair, I had to wait 4 weeks for a repair appointment at my chosen independent specialist in the summer.

Mind you, they do fix Land Rovers so are always snowed under…

Yep, particularly for diagnostics.
Then you'll have another wait before it can be booked in for the part & fix after diagnosis.

I just waited a month to get wife’s Skoda Karoq in for a noisy a/c compressor - was booked in for a Monday and on the Friday before they called and said they could see I’d been told Monday, but their system had the booking for Wednesday, so could I come on Wednesday. I said no, car is coming on Monday. They said fine, and it was.

Point is, it’s obviously bks that they can’t do it for a month - they’re just hoping that you’ll go somewhere else and leave them in peace doing £250 oil changes every 20 mins.

The Ford Kuga app requested a service which I knew was approaching. The app offered to book in with the local dealer with slots available that week so I delayed until nearer to the mileage limit. When I came to book more slots were available for that week but were offered but only as a teaser and the service was booked over the phone with a 4 week wait.

Super normal as lots are short of techs, techs with the right experience or depending on vehicle type required training and certification from the manufacturer.

Generally there is a shortcut for the right type of "fault" though as I have been known to push the emergency assist number instead, cars then need looking at within a 48 hr window. I got to be on first name terms with our local guy because of a timing chain fault which stupidly the local dealer denied was there...even to a degree the local assist guy did.

All were wrong, something i find totaly unforgivable. After one final assist call (where he denied it), local dealer said go to our sister branch it went there when it clearly had got worse and I did not feel safe driving it and lunching the engine. Sister branch got their master tech and the UK technical manager involved...timing chain was stretched, fking clowns at the local branch and even the local assist guy.
