For just a bit of lighthearted fun.
Cars that you have owned or driven that fall into these categories... reasons why are optional.

Snog: Calibra (8V, pre facelift)... Lovely to look at but a bit dull.

Marry: SD1... big, comfy & laid back... but still easy on the eye.
(Still my #1 fantasy... her name is Vitesse).

Avoid: Proton MPI... no hesitation, just rough & no real redeeming features.
( OK if you like a big boot).

Snog: Alfa Romeo Giulia from the 60s (it was a surprise present from my best man before my wedding)

Marry: 997 GT3 - drove it at a track day and it was simply the best car I've ever driven

Avoid: D2 TD5 Discovery - owned it for 2 years and it was just crap. Constantly breaking down, slow, terrible economy and just useless unless you were on a farm

Snog : TVR Griff 500 What an amazing first date that was! The fling didn’t last though and quite glad as I could imagine living with it being very volatile.

Marry : Mini r56. Exciting enough for daily fun. Relaxed enough to live with everyday, not too pricey to keep, and relatively low maintenance.

Avoid : Delorean. Stays as the ‘pin up’ on my bedroom wall but dreadful in every way. Unless it’s a real time machine!

Mistress? Landy defender 90 . A bit of dirty fun every now and then but awful to live with. But you keep going back for more.

Great topic OP!!!

BMW 635CSi
Exciting and gorgeous.
Had 2 and both times I sold them it was time they went.
Sooner or later they will break your heart.

Marry:

Full Fat Range Rover.
When you need to fall into a reassuring embrace and be protected from the world, to be made to feel better about yourself and to be everything you need with family & home but still scrubs up and looks stunning on a night out.
Just like the perfect wife.

Avoid:

Aston Martin / Ferrari / Maserati.
Unless you are very well off, or very committed.
Be honest, are you buying it for you or to telegraph your affluence?
Ok if the former, sad if the latter.
The tragedy is others will assume the latter.

As un PH as it is, I've only ever owned one car, so I'll base it on other cars I've driven...

Snog: Lamborghini Gallardo.
Ridiculous amount of grip, hung on long after it should have let go. Hopeless ergonomics. Gear shift paddles so small you only had to turn the wheel a little bit and they were now out of reach. Felt like I'd lit a rocket and was now hanging on for dear life. Climbed out shaking with a dry mouth.

Marry: Ferrari 360.
Felt like a pair of made-to-measure shoes. Instantly familiar and friendly with a great user interface - everything where I expected it to be. Felt like I knew it inside out the instant I climbed behind the wheel. Handled like a go-kart. Utter joy to drive.

Avoid: Peugeot 206.
Pedals so close together you could brake and accelerate at the same time and you had to try and push on them from above - with feet in a natural position they were digging into the bottom of your shoes. No power whatsoever - couldn't get it to go faster than 40 on a gentle incline. If I turned the air con on there was no cold air, just slighly higher engine revs. Clutch so light you had no idea if your foot was on it or not.

I can’t think of any cars I’ve owned that fall into the snog territory frown I prefer a long term relationship to a one night stand

Marry: Opel Monza - nice two door coupe - soulful straight six bulletproof getrag 265 gearbox - ok a bit lardy but for its age I can allow it a few lbs

Clearly it’s too old and crusty so I’ll nominate anything with a BMW N52 engine - what a little peach that engine is regardless of what body shape it has to drag around

Avoid: Lotus Carlton - always something needed like a bit on the side you just know it’s going to end badly but it does have a wonderful personality and a creamy six pot and I’ve owned one for 20 plus years so maybe that should be the marry one

Fast, fun, great to drive, lairy looking enough but with the stats to back it up.

Marry

My lovely pre facelift E38 728i. The forever car (if I can keep a little rust at bay)

Avoid

Electric Mini
Absolutely pointless vehicle with zero redeeming features.

Snog- Fiat 131 Sport. A great looking car, that drive’s superbly. However living with one now would be a challenge with parts availability and keeping the rust at bay.

Marry- Any BMW 3, 4 (Coupe) or 5 Series with a minimum of a 2 litre engine. There just great all rounders that do everything to such a high standard.

Avoid- Rover 827 Vitesse. They rust before your eyes and are hopelessly unreliable.
