Hey all,

Just brought a slightly modded GT86 over from Japan. It's on a transport from the docks to the MOT station as we speak.

Anyone know who the best company are for VIN insurance these days? I've just started looking at quotes by I object to paying £215 just to drive it 3 miles from the MOT station to my house and register it with DVLA if I can help it.

Cheers

Over 3 miles a recovery truck would be cheaper. Probably get that distance for 'call out' fee.

Way back when I think I set up a regular annual insurance policy against the VIN number, then I updated them with the registration after it was registered.

Just VIN will do, no need for ‘number’ after it.

Last time I bought a Skyline back form the docks I just waited till it was dark and late and drove it home very fast setting off every speed camera I could find smile

Tilbury to nottingham and about 12 years ago now - so try it at your peril!

This, I did the same.
Although I did forget to update the insurance with the reg and then got pulled over on the M3 a few months later!

I used Adrian Flux for a car I bought from Europe earlier this year, and it was very easy to insure it on the VIN.
