Great start, finished work all happy for the holidays, come home and mrs says someone’s hit the car.
Rear bumper scuffed on the side! Must have scraped it as they’ve been reversing out. Obviously just got off and left.
Not too much damage but very noticeable as it’s scratched down to the plastic. Lucky enough didn’t damage bodywork apart from a very slight mark where the bumper meets the body but that’s hardly noticeable.
Well pi##ed off.
Annoyed because it’s the one car I’ve had for over 3yrs and still love it. Gonna annoy me now it looking a bit tatty. Not sure if to try and touch in to disguise it or get it painted because if it doesn’t blend in well to the rest of the car it’ll do my head in too.
Being a silver colour I know it’s a difficult match and probably more so as it’s Bmw individual colour.

Just claim. If you aren’t satisfied with the colour match have ‘em rectify it.

Everybody seems to be petrified of claiming but this is what you’re paying for insurance for. The increase in premium won’t be all that. Even over several years it’ll probably cost less than having the job done out of pocket.

You’ll lose a couple of years NCB probably and have to declare it.

It’s not affected my Xmas too much but I hate the comment of it’s only a car. I didn’t pay a couple of hundred quid for it.
It’s not gonna be a free repair so it’s money wasted, if I wanted to waste money there’s better and more fun ways to do it.

This is a motoring forum, this is the place to get upset about such things.

There’s always one bellend on threads like this, and they’re invariably illiterate too.

I would be pissed as well if some ars*h**e did that to one of our cars .
As for "It's just a car "This person obviously only drives a shed and doesn't care if it gets bumped or if he does this to someone else.
Can the repair be done by a dent away mobile company or is it too bad ?
A woman hit my car with her car door about 3 years ago (while parked) and I politely asked her to watch my car while opening her door, she hit it again and I got out and went to see if there was damage and again stated be careful , all she said was" It's only a car "
So I stated it is but it's my F&&**$ng car and you want to be more careful of others property,
She slimed off after that.
I hope you manage to get it sorted soon.

You are quite right to be pissed off, I certainly would be... in fact, I was when some oik hit the back wing of my XJ while it was parked. I just couldn't relax until it was repaired, even though, a lot of people I know and pointed it out to them, said...

They couldn't even see it!

Problem was, I could and it was all I saw so it went away to be repaired at the first available date.

Can possibly be done by one of those mobile company’s I’ll have to see what they say. It’s not major but bad enough for me! I’ll hopefully get it sorted in the new year.

Personally if you plan on keeping it you may wish to do a proper bodyshop job not smart repair it. Given it is silver then I suspect a larger area of blending is going to be required.

Most people don't give a toss about each other, let alone their posessions. As for the poster above, given this is a car forum I expect others are generally going to be bothered by inconsiderate tossers that don't own up to causing damage to someone elses property.

Annoying. If nothing's bent, you could hit YT and see if it's something you could DIY.

A quick look to see if anyone has anything in their profile garage wise is a good rule of thumb for me on weather they are into cars/bikes.

Strange comments from some on a motoring forum.

What a bizarre comment. Someone has damaged the OPs car and disappeared, meaning either expense and inconvenience to sort it or having to put up with the damage. Of course that will affect how they are feeling.

This is the same thought process of the moron who hit his car. Whoopsie just a car who cares off i pop with my day and let someone else deal with and pay for my incompetence.
I had my door bashed at work can see the van on cctv but as it’s night time his headlights make it so you couldn’t make his reg out. That was over a year ago and the dents still there now I just cba fixing it.

I was putting my shopping in the car on Friday mooring and heard a cruch. I went over and done guy had hit the car in the next spot, dislodging the bumper on the victim car and putting a few scratches into it. There was plenty of the victims cars paint on his bumper. He played it down and said he didn't realise he's hit it. I said to him you best be leaving your details, he said oh yeah sure I and off he toddles into tesco.

Not trusting him in the slightest I moved my car closer and decided to wait for him to come back.

He just came back out and tried to drive off. I don't think he was expecting me to still be there. I asked him where his note was and he said oh yeah, I've not got any paper. I said you'd best get back in the shop and buy some then. So he has, rather sheepishly.

The victim came out in the mean time so I told her what had gone on and she was grateful that I had hung around.

It’s truly a dreadful time of year for driving and parking. I drove yesterday from Chester to Luton Airport stopping at Corley Services on the M6. As always I park well out of the way, which is a policy I’ve adopted here from years of holidaying in France where any mainstream parking is guaranteed damage to your car.

As I walked from my parking spot through the car park the manoeuvring incompetence was quite breathtaking. How on earth did these people get a license. I then thought these are the same half wits I’m sharing a motorway with. As I continued my journey it was really a case of adopting techniques developed from years of riding motorcycles where you are continually protecting your life.
