I've become aware of the term Proto when looking at classic Renaults. It's not a term I'm familiar with but it seems to mean Customised? Is this a common term and where did it originate please? Thanks, Bob.
Same lingustic root as 'prototype', presumably. The 'proto' bit means 'original' (or 'primitive', but the former, with the implication of 'unique' in this context, I think).
'Proto' on its own would therefore mean something similar to 'custom' in US parlance or 'special' in English?
