Dodgy ask mid / insurance thing

Clearly it’s dodgy, what do people using this service expect to happen when they crash and kill a bunch of brain surgeons waiting to board a bus to the brain surgeon convention?

It is a scam. They won't be insured and it certainly won't show on the database when they hand over a few hundred quid "deposit".

Sadly you are half right, anyone with a trade or fleet policy can access the portal can add a car and it shows immediately. There was a case of a company in the Midlands that had over 1000 cars on its MID cover but only 25 vehicles on its fleet They only found out their portal details had been compromised months later when other insurance companies started issuing claims against them for cars they did not have

If using this service the vehicle will not be insured and could be taken off at any point if someone spots it should not be there.

I had a Combo van on my fleet insurance and it always showed up as uninsured

Did you have a direct portal or did you use a broker? You would be amazed how many people put O instead of 0 in reg numbers.
