So Audi main dealer has registered the 2018 audi s3 I bought in Nov to the wrong address.

I Broke my arm a week after buying the car and have been more worried about other things to think about it until today.
Rung Audi who looked it up and told me the last v5 was sent on 30th Nov. (according to dvla website)

Rung DVLA to be on hold for 34 mins to be told the car and the details I give do not match

Rung Audi to ask what details they used to be told they have the wrong address entered in the system.

Went to house number that was entered to be told the old lady who lives in the house rems getting the letter and sent it back.

Rung Audi to tell them to get it sorted to be told it could take upto 8 weeks OR
they can get it resent to old ladys house and get address changed on new v5 when it arrives which would take aprox 2-3 weeks to sort.

So is a bottle wine or flowers better to give to the old lady who I have just met today after 24 years of living on same street and is willing to bring the new v5 down to me once it arrives again? Oh and should Audi not be sending same due to it being thier mess in 1st place.

Oh and still not able to drive the car due to the arm.

Don't hold your breath for Audi.
Take her both, you'll have a new friendly neighbour for life.

It sounds highly likely the second option will result in an extra keeper being recorded.

Get Audi to sort it.

I got a V5 for the previous house owners new car. It was a newish Quashai so I took at punt at phoning the local Nissan dealer.
I posted the V5 back to the DVLA.
They appoligised profusely and I have heard nothing since.

If the name was correct but only the address wrong, the second option shouldn't add another keeper. You can change only the address without a new keeper, then it only changes the date of issue of the last V5C. Plenty of people move houses and have to change just the address, they don't have new keepers added to their cars' histories when they change the registered address.

If the OP is certain the only issue is the house number/address and the name is 100% correct, then yes just 'move house' when the paperwork is returned to your near neighbour. If there could be other errors, then I would say go back to option 1 (I suppose the OP can make that choice once he has the V5C in his hand). I didn't read it properly - the thread title does say the name is correct. So, yes my original 'advice' wasn't the most efficient!

I know the name on the v5 is correct, It is the address and even then it is just the street number.

Even a naming error can be changed without an additional RK. I bought a car in 2021 and the seller presumed my name was as my email address, it wasn't, I use 2 Christian names on my email. rolleyes

You can return it for an error using the same section (3) as change of address which I did, along with a letter of explanation. But NOT both at the same name, the DVLA will see this as an attempt to not add a keeper. frown

I agree that Audi should sort it.
My niece had the same issue when she bought a used car, dealer registered it at wrong address. She managed to get hold of the incorrect V5C from the householder and then sent it to DVLA with a covering letter. Came back correct and no extra keeper.

Same here, my lad bought a car and the seller put my sons first and middle name on the form rather first and surname - sent it back to dvla and it came back corrected.
