Jeep previews all-new 600hp Wagoneer S

Jeep reckons style, speed and sophistication are guaranteed with its electric Range Rover rival

It’s easy to see why electrification appeals in the luxury SUV sphere, with all the performance expected of a large petrol engine and even better refinement guaranteed. Plus the precision of electric response for those that dare to venture off-road. We know there’s going to be an electric Range Rover very soon, and - fittingly - there’ll be an electric Jeep to rival it, too: the Wagoneer S.

Teased with a head-on shot that shows a trademark Jeep grille reimagined with LEDs, the Wagoneer S will be debuted very soon - Jeep says sales will commence in the US this autumn. Precious little else has been shared for the moment, apart from the promise of 600hp (which feels just about mandatory in this sector right now), a 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds (ditto) and standard 4Xe all-terrain management. Unsurprisingly, the Wagoneer S will be EV-only as Jeep embarks on range-wide electrification. In Europe at least, it’s set to be an electric-only brand by 2030.

The Wagoneer S will be part of that, too, if likely in limited volume to begin with. Jeep has alredy confirmed that the new model car will make it to ‘key markets around the world’ after its US debut, with EU countries likely to occur in 2025. The idea of a right-hand-drive derivative was mooted in the wake of the concept unveiling in 2022, and we all know the UK loves a big electric SUV - there are enough BMW iXes and Audi e-trons around for proof of that. A reveal date hasn’t been set just yet, though it must be fairly soon if sales are scheduled for the autumn - the perfect car for the Jeep Easter Safari, surely…

It's disappointing that Jerp cheaped-out on the Wagoneer, and bizarre they left the model name out for so long.

This is the original luxury 4x4 (and probably the origin performance 4xr) and they should have gone all in to develop a RR rival, not a pickup-based beached whale of a thing.

Another boring SooV from the land where more, even if it is pointless & rubbish, is king. Case in point.

A neighbour of my brother's has one a Grand Wagoneer.

It's not up to Range Rover levels of refinement but it is a lovely place to be and right up there, maybe ahead of it's contemporaries.

I'll be curious to see exactly what size it really is - especially compared to the behemoths from the Germans. From the front it certainly seems to be one of the better looking of the breed

Makes German XL SUVs look like hatchbacks. This is Escalade/Yukon/Navigator size.

So there’s a new car which we can’t see much of, coming out somewhere else, and coming here sometime, maybe.

So Jeep will be gone in 10-15 years. ALL electric, no other fule used. The Chinese, who own all the mines and battery making factories, will all of a sudden refuse to supply batteries to those they detest, read US firms, and hence no business. No chance of going back to ICE, where the fuel comes from loads of places, so more choice. But one supplier, China, means monopoly.
End of the car business as we know it once they all decide to go electrons only. And I ain't no Mensa, so if I can see this as a potential threat, why can't they? Or do we all hope and believe that it'll be solved in the next few years with other countires getting into the mining and manufacture of batteries?

It is said that it will around the size of the two-row Grand Cherokee. Which means that it will likely be slightly shorter than a Bmw x5 or a Mercedes GLE.

I was talking about the GW available now which is just under 230 inches, not far off 6m long.

Okay, but that's a complely different vehicle that don't have anything to do with this one. The Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer are full-size SUVs while this one is a mid-size.
