Short term use of 2k clear coat

Hi , I am in the process of refurbishing some alloy wheels , got told 2k clear coat is better for gloss finish (I’m using bmw aspen white 899 that states gloss finish clear coat needed) …Watched a couple of you tube tutorials etc then found out air fed mask is the way to go, got a little annoyed at myself for not doing my homework on the stuff regarding masks…However I found a Gerson 2k mask that say they are good for 36 hrs use and as I am only putting at most 4 coats on a wheel at approximately 20/30 secs at a time I went ahead a bought one , I also have gloves and overhauls and have a variation of locations I can use for putting clear coat on …Any one dealt with it before and maybe used the Gerson 2k mask …

I used 2k aerosol with a proper filtered mask last year for a small part for my car.

Filter worked fine, but definately keep as much of your body covered. So thats glasses, hat, gloves and a covid mask for the rest of your face or one of those disposable paper overalls. It's nasty stuff, spray it outside if you can.

It does come up shiny and durable on the part you are spraying, not a good look on your body!

Thanks for the reply , I have the Gerson plus normal face mask hooded disposable overalls and gloves , will do it outdoors as said it’s only for a few coats on wheel ….

it's not the fact that it's 2 pack that's the risk, it's whether it contains isocyanates (which most 2 packs do). Its not worth the agro The climate change and Greta Thunberg will wear the paint off
Just get them sand blasted and powder coated

I've seen loads of professional painters on Youtube just using masks, particularly in other countries (Australia from memory?)
Isn't isocyanate 2k clear used pretty much universally, or are they painting in something else?

Hi the Mask I have purchased is basically only good for 36 hours , I presume that is not continuous,it states it’s fine for 2k for smart repair etc , I’ll be done in less than 30 secs a coat…so basically it’s a disposable one ….If I was doing it everyday day of the week then I would invest in a better set up .Seen pl we nut if people use it with masks albeit majority are outdoor…Just s bit of common sense with it .
