All sounds a bit odd.
Tell her to not worry about it but keep an eye out for official looking letters in the next 14 days

Question for you Re speed traps.. for my stepdaughter... I want to put her mind at rest...1 policeman seen holding a thin black pole about a metre long at the roadside that had a small dark object on top, (like a selfie stick) pointing at cars coming towards him. His car was parked over the road. 30mph limit. Is this a radar gun for speed monitoring only for data purposes or a camera for fines? Or could this be someone else, I.E Highways etc. No other copper around.
Validate that it was a policeman and not just someone in hi viz.

She doesn't know for sure. She just saw hi viz on the guy and a car parked over the road with the stripes on that could be Highways rather than a cop car. She was nervous looking at her speed to get a good look.

Yes that may be what she saw! She said the device on the top though looked smaller and darker.. but yes it could have been!

Maybe she’ll stop speeding after the scare.

Correct. But she suffers with anxiety and is worried she was even 1 mph over... her black box is stating all good... but she's still worrying.. so I wanted to see if I could put her mind at ease with any of your helpful feedback.

riveting stuff, next week: man eats a pea

but on the subject...

Why do motorway cameras occasionally flash you, even when well under the limit?

They occasionally flash, even when nothing is going past.

They're calibrating.
