"Collecting Addicts" style 2 car garage. You're a R&R star..
Discussion
Just for fun and if you've heard some of the fantastical 2 car garage scenarios on the "Collecting Addicts" podcast, here's a scenario for you.
The year is 1995 and you're one of the less well-known founding members of 90s rock band Oasis! Your 1st album has just gone 7x Platinum and you have a nice big royalty cheque to spend. You currently drive a battered old W123 240d estate that you have owned since the late 80s, that you used to ferry equipment around from gig to gig. Perhaps you'll keep it for old time's sake or for getting around incognito but you want 2 new/new to you cars.
1) Something plush/luxurious to drive from gig to gig, including gigs in Europe, as you don't like to fly or go on the tour bus with Liam/Noel! Fuel economy isn't important and you have a crew to take care of all the gear for you, so it could be a saloon but it has to be comfortable for up to 4 people, as some of your bandmates occasionally come with you and be able to accommodate luggage for 4.
2) You enjoy driving, so a fun sports car to drive around in when you're not "working".
You can go new (but remember it's 1995) or classic if you prefer. What 2 cars would you buy?

No mention of budget so I'm going E38 BMW 750il luxobarge and Jaguar XJ220 weekend toy.
Great choices. How much was the XJ220 back then? Would the cheque have covered it?Spot on with the 750i though. If it was today, it would probably be a Range Rover but this era would have been a P38, so I think a luxury saloon would have been better and mid-90s, a BMW would have been the one to have.
An E34 M5 3.8 and a 993 Turbo would have been the two stand-out cars for me from this era but the LWB 750i is an excellent choice. More passenger space, automatic transmission and "waftier".
Could have stuck with Mercedes and gone for a 500E I suppose or an SEL 6.9, which would have been very cool but just an old car at this point.
However, you're quite patriotic, so something British might also fit the bill. Could have got an X300 XJR (6 cylinder one) but I prefer the X308 with the V8 (which wasn't out yet). However there is one other patriotic choice, super plush and being Manchester born and bred, you're supporting local.

And you're a bit too "working class" to get a Ferrari/Lambo but quite like a bit of German engineering and like the idea of a bit of wind in your hair.
