I had a new tyre fitted. I haven't had a really good look yet but here are a couple of of photos:

What do people think? Get on with my life, or do I have something I need to kick up a fuss about?

I'd be having a word, they've damaged the wheel and it didn't come in looking like that. Can see the rest of the wheel us unmarked.

the answer, sadly, is "prove it" - just ignore, I really can't see you getting anywhere for a lot of potential frustration

Any other damage to the alloy? They look diamond polished, could lead to worming?

If I got such a blunt response when I knew they'd damaged my wheel I'd give them 7 days to offer a solution, then if no joy I'd tell them the amount I'd be expecting them to reimburse me for the repair, and then a dispute with my credit card company if they still said " prove it"

These business's need to train their fitters properly.

They f*ked it. Also there is a corresponding installation mark on the tyre should they dispute it

TBF I don't disagree with any of what you said yes it just depends on how much effort and time you want to/need to expend...

Did you shop on "quality" or or on "price"?

Agree. I would kick up a fuss.

Neither, I shopped on necessity. I noticed my tyre was flat and needed the car for work, so I put some air in and went to a local place I've used before for repairs (I haven't had a new tyre in years). I don't know if it makes a difference but my previous cars have all had chunky tyres and I've never had a problem with the tyre shop.

After the job the wheel was soaking wet, as they dipped in a vat of water, so I couldn't see any damage. I noticed that today before going to work.

I think given the obvious tool marks that match on the tyre and the wheel I will swing by tomorrow and see what they say.

What should I be asking for? Cost of refurb? Any ideas how much that will be?

Have you scraped it with your nail?

I’ve had this a couple of times and rather than the wheel being gouged, it was plastic off the machine that had smash its way onto the rim and was easily removed.

In each case I only noticed it later after cleaning off the tyre soap stuff.

Not asking..

Tell them they've damaged your wheel.

Give them the opportunity to repair it, or pay for you to have the repair done.

If they're not playing ball, send in an email of complaint with what your expectations are, give them 7 days to respond.

Then if no joy, as I said a few posts before, get your credit card co involved.

Most people just cave in, and they know it.

I did scratch at it with my nail. It's bumpy and uneven and feels dented rather than excess material.

Did you sign anything when paying / collecting that said you were all happy with the job and no damage done?

Do they have special machines at the factory to mount tyres? Or just good fitters?

I didn't sign anything, just paid, thankfully with cc, and left.

They used one of those rotating machine thingys to get tyre off and on, but I didn't watch it very closely.

You might have some hope then . Only asking as when similar happened to me they got me to sign off that the job was all good then I got to see my car and all the damage. Sorting it out was ultimately doomed for me as no matter what evidence I put up the fitters and tyre supplier had a piece of paper to throw back at me saying I said the job was good, so I must have just kerbed all 4 wheels 100 yards after picking my car up

I can imagine that most tyres with a stupid low profile are a bh to fit.

No excuse though, so you could always go back and talk to them. Radical idea i know.

its not a new car just ignore it tiny scratch makes no difference.
very low profile tyres with stiff sidewalls can be a pig to get off you have to accept things like this can happen at a tyre shop.
