i'm interested in a car which will be 5 years this June, so how does the charging work? does it automatically go now the month after if i paid monthly for example?

No, it's paid for 5 years after the first renewal, essentially 6 yrs.

It's a bit complicated, I think only to stop a car that is made SORN for ages after its first year dropping the charge without it being paid.

No ideas for a name

It does go down the month after, if paid monthly... but as above it is after its 6th birthday.

Mine went down at 5.5yrs old. Think it must’ve been taxed for 6months to begin with then 5 yrs after that or something. Just went down automatically as I pay it monthly.

It's not really. Why, would that stop you buying the car?

It doesn't stop me buying the car but clearly would be nice to pay less VED
