'Landmark moment' announced for 2024 Revival

There are few greater sights in this world than watching historic racing cars (many of them priceless) being jockeyed around Goodwood Motor Circuit with as much vigour as they would have been back in the good old days. That’s the heart and soul of the Revival, and with evermore stringent regulations muffling the sounds of contemporary racers, the event - running Sept 6th to 8th this year - presents one of the few opportunities to hear a symphony of cylinders unmuted by pesky noise restrictors and heavy hybrid systems.
Don’t take that as a sign that the Revival is behind the times, though. The cars and bikes may hail from simpler times, but the organisers have their sights firmly set on the future. In fact, last year’s Fordwater Trophy, featuring a glorious grid of classic Porsche 911s, was run entirely on sustainable fuels. And for this year’s event, Goodwood is upping the ante by running the entire event on fuels produced in a sustainable way. That’s right, beautifully noisy historic racing cars are showing the motorsport world how to go green(er) in fine fashion.
So how will it work? All competitors, whether they’re in a Mini Cooper S or Ferrari 250 GTO, will be required to run on fuels containing a minimum of 70 per cent sustainable components. What’s brilliant about these fuels is that they require zero modifications to run, competitors simply fill up the same way as they would normally.
Better still, the fuels used will have no impact on performance and, even more importantly, won’t muffle the glorious sounds only a historic racing car can make. That means everything we love about the Revival (the noise, the drifts, the museum-grade metal) remains the same, now with a smaller carbon footprint. Win-win.
That’s not the only change coming to this year’s Revival either. The full race list has now been revealed, with 15 adrenaline-fuelled races over three action-packed days. Fan favourites are set to return, including the RAC TT Celebration and Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, while big changes for the Sussex Trophy sees the former event-closing race move to this year’s opener and the runtime extended from 30 to 60 minutes - because who doesn’t want an extra half an hour of Lister Knobbly, Ferrari 246S Dino and Jaguar D-Type action?
So, as ever, there’s a huge amount to look forward to this September, and the fact that the entire event will be run on sustainable fuels makes this year’s Revival feel extra special. But on the other hand, by how much? And will anyone care? OK, the hoorays at these type of events get bask in the glow they're "helping the planet" but for the rest of us, as we go down a legislation habit hole how long before the "green" movement dictate that things like all circuit racing, track days or even none commercial/commuting mileage needs to be fed by this expensive snake oil?

ks but it's so much cheaper and better cars all round Now; I don’t have a period costume ready to go hanging up in the wardrobe at the moment. I’d like to think I could cobble something together if I bought tickets, but, can you turn up in modern dress ?
