Which warranty is best?

The warranty on my 530d is due to run out in a week. I have never bought a warranty before preferring to take a chance but with the bimmer being so complicated, I thought I should buy a warranty either from BMW which is an Allianz insurance or Motor Easy or Warranty Wise. The BMW one comes out at £695.00 with no breakdown cover. I haven't got quotes from the others yet. Just thought I'd check out good/bad experiences first. Thanks in advance.

OEM BMW or not at all IMO

My F31 came with RAC Platinum warranty; not worth the paper it was written on

Seen plenty of issues with other aftermarket warranties and knew a few folk that had issues with the likes of RAC, WarrantyWise etc

BMW warranty for me (fully comp with BMW Assist) was £800 and it served me very well last year; x2 claims and x£4k's worth of work (going off BMW prices/labour costs etc) with zero issues/zero questions asked and the local BMW dealer (Bowker, Preston) were faultless

As above, a dealer warranty I think is the way to go. Land Rover have been brilliant in the past with me. Though thankfully not needed them for the defender.

I’m not sure any of the COTS ones are worth the paper they are written on in fairness. If you actually read the T’s and C’s as to what’s covered, and the circumstances it’s covered under, you’ll see that these warranty companies are slipperier than an oil coated weasel that’s just graduated from the slippery weasel academy… I personally hold them in the same regard as Lawyers, journalists, politicians and insurance companies!

Thanks for your reply. I bought a 530 E39 from Bowker back in the day even though I live in Cheshire (not the posh bit). Bought my 530d from lloyds in Blackpool last year. Had a NoX sensor replaced six months ago which makes me think about a warranty. I'm leaning towards the BMW one on a 'you only get what you pay for' basis.

The official BMW extended warranty (provided by Allianz) is head and shoulders above any product from warranty wise etc.

And it includes "wear and tear" on non service items.

That's some time back

Bowker sorted all 4 of my E39s out for their airbag recalls etc (inc x2 Jap import E39s which they couldn't get their heads around re the condition of them etc) and they've been superb with my F31

My Dad's current and past X3M and X3s have been via Lloyds of Blackpool also; he's done brilliantly by them and it's time for his next BMW; he's got an i5 something or other on loan for a good few days week after next; be interesting to see how he gets on being in a lower car again!
