Bought a car with 24k miles Full Dealer history - question

I bought a 2018 Mazda6 with 24k miles and x4 Mazda dealer services up to 13.3k miles.

I bought the car from an independent garage which had just serviced it themselves [at 24k miles] before selling to me therefore my Full Mazda dealer service history has been 'broken' Should I get it serviced again now at Mazda to retain the full Mazda service history [£400] Or just leave it with a gap.

Mazda has an app with their services listed in numeric order so having a gap on the app makes it stand out more in my mind.

It doesn't mayer how many times you have it serviced at Mazda now its never going to be a Full Mazda service history..?

Nope. Not worth it at all. Keep up the service history but you can’t catch up just stay on track from now.

It is a 6yr old Mazda, not a £300k Ferrari. You seem to be overthinking it.

Will anyone care in a year or two? Or even now? As long as it’s been serviced and the book stamped ,that will be fine in almost all cases as the car ages. As someone posted , it’s not a Ferrari ( and even there, skulduggery can happen.)

I’d stop servicing the car after that as it’s only worth scrap value if the Mazda service history is interrupted by a an oil and filter change at an Indy.

It's a 5 year or 6yr old run of the mill car. Find a decent local garage, use them. Keep recpts amd invoices. If you really feel like it buy a blank service book and get the garage to stamp it.

Some time ago now (2010) but my experience of the local Mazda Garage with my MX5 was less than good. Bumper respray badly done and they at the second attempt of re painting didn't even plug the rear light clusters in when they handed the car back to me.

If you want it to show on the MM App, I’m pretty sure you can contact Mazda and have the last service entered manually. I have seen such entries in the history for Mazdas previously.

Our Mazda 6 had FMDSH when we purchased it at 5 years old, I just elected to keep it regularly looked after at a decent Indy after that, as long as the service history is consistent and there's no massive gaps, then I think that's all that matters if ever it comes to resale.

Would it make £400 difference at trade in time?

Personally, from new to 3 or 4 years, the main dealer stamp adds a little (plus warranty and possibly manufacturer goodwill), after that i'd like a "decent" garage doing the work for a few years.
After that, IMHO the market for non-prestige seems to buy based on how polished the car is on the day and how long the MOT is..

The time to worry about service history is before you buy the car, not after.

I’m pretty fussy about service history generally, but that would be on something newish or bork-happy.

I suspect any 'dealer' servicing is not worth a premium once the factory warranty has expired, so any goodwill will be a diminishing return.

(Perhaps we can rank unhelpful random services on a par with dealers putting new tyres on a car but from some unknown Chinese ditchfinder brand)
