Ex Demo EQC Premium Missing Surround View

I could do with some advice please. I’ve bought an ex demo 23 plate premium EQC. It is a premium option that should have surround view cameras and only has rear view. I don’t want to reject it under distance selling. The dealer has confirmed the spec says surround view. It would cost a packet to have it retrofitted. Has anyone had. A similar case where they have managed to get Mercedes to for the missing option? Or do I have to just keep/reject it?

You can't insist that it's fitted, realistically your options appear to be:

• Reject the car
• Request that the dealer retrofits (They're entitled to refuse but obviously have to accept the likely return of the vehicle)
• If it's desirable but not essential then negotiate a suitable discount to the purchase price in lieu of the surround view

For me it's a must have feature, to try protect the car a little more from the oblivious OH who had a history of detecting curbs and fenceposts during parking by touching them, however with surround view has managed to avoid that entirely for a few years now.

Why don’t you want to reject it? Or is it a case of you will reject it if they don’t agree to retro fit?

Unless it’s something uniquely spec’d, I’d be rejecting it and continuing the search for the ‘correct’ vehicle.

Next cheapest car in magno paint is £9k more.
I’ll speak to the dealer to see what they will do. We had an amg line without it before just very annoying

You can check the VIN on this, which should list the options fitted (assuming it has data on new cars).

If it says its fitted and it is not then there should be a case to answer from the dealer, then its up to them to take it up with M-B for the cost of the retrofit of the mirror and front cameras needed.

are the cameras definitely missing? I could see this being the kind of thing that "fell off" during a software update, I'd be amazed if they didn't include it in the original spec of a demo car (as its a nice party trick that's easy to show off)

Not an EQS but a colleague had the same issue on his e-tron and a simple software update was all that was required; a software update had disabled the cameras by accident. Might be the same deal here; wouldn’t be surprised if Merc install all possible hardware and just activate things depending on what the customer paid for.

Probably one of those features that got temporarily wiped in the chip shortage so they could save a few precious semiconductors

That pic looks more like an LED... is that the mirror underside?

Is there a camera on the front? On my CLS (admittedly rather older) the front camera is at the top of the grille, above the badge, and its in a little protective dome.

Edit to add... your pics for some reason come out in my reply. Looks like there is a front camera, which makes little sense unless there is a 360 camera option fitted.

I cant imagine it would cost the dealer a lot to fit new mirror undersides with the cameras and code the option in.

I have an EQC with the premium plus package. Delivered in Nov 2022. They had a build issue at the time where they had to leave some important spec off the cars due to the microprocessor shortage. Mine was delivered without the amazing Burmester speakers, the Augmented Reality HUD nor the wireless phone charger. The last one wasn't an issue but the other irked somewhat. Had it been a car I was crazy enough to have actually bought with my own money I would have kicked up a fuss as Mercedes made no effort to let me know of the missing items nor consider any discount on the packages. In fact they put the Premium Plus package up in price by a good few thousand between me ordering and receiving the car. It was a "like it or lump it" situation. I was just pleased to have the car at all given all the global issues and delays faced by others.

So TLDR; Merc has history of this and I suspect they won't give a toss sadly. Great car btw. I love mine. I've got it another 18 months and by then hopefully the new EQC is launched and I can move to that, otherwise its the Macan E for me

It’s my wife’s car and she doesn’t seem to mind. I suspect they dropped it from the spec as you say and still left it on the spec sheet.

The surround 'birdseye' view is actually one of the handier features that I use regularly. I can see it being annoying if she was used to a car that had it already but if it would have been new to her then maybe it's not such a loss.

I bought it remotely and it was delivered from 150 miles away.

I checked the spec with the salesman to confirm it had surround camera. It doesn’t. I ca reject it if I want. It’s my wife’s car and her decision.

If it's not what you signed up for I'd reject as soon as possible and find another.
Perhaps one you can view rather than being delivered.

As has been discussed sounds more like an admin/ typo error rather than with intent.
