Having just come back from m'hols in North Carolina I thought I'd pop on a few notes/(very!)brief thoughts on our hire-car for nearly 3 weeks: the Kia Sorento.
To be fair we'd actually started off in a Mazda CX5 which really was bland. Acceptable but bland and had it stayed that way I'd not be trying to bore you here, however, our car had a slow puncture so needed replacing (which was a painfully slow process
) and the replacement was the aforementioned Sorento.
First impressions? It seemed to be a class bigger than the CX5 and was several steps above in terms of quality, ride and general comfort. The car steered reasonably well, the (heated) seats were comfortable, the cabin felt spacious (being a 7 seater it should!) and was, overall, a nice place to munch the miles in.
It wasn't all roses though - the satnav was truly atrocious (in fairness that was tring to input a destination, once found the navigation bit was great) and the car was definitely underpowered (not in a PH sort of way either
)
Would I buy one? No, probably not - that's not due to any failings with the car but at the mooted UK price I'd likely look at the used market instead.

Quite like the facelift version. Friend of mine swapped an XC-90 for one of these and loves it. They had a Kia Stinger too, which they also loved. They've swapped that for a Tesla and (tax reasons) but preferred the Kia and are toying with the idea of getting an EV6 GT.It's got that Cadillac vertical headlights spaced very far apart thing going on, and I really hate that. In 2022 I rented a Chevy Traverse (slightly smaller version of the Tahoe) and I quite enjoyed driving it once I got used to the size. Was comfortable enough and powerful enough despite only being a V6. Much more traditional in style than the Kia, so more my cup of tea I suppose. Nothing much else to say about it other than it was a shame it was white!
