Buying Spares/Repairs/Project vehicle from a dealer

Is that legal?

Advert says MOT until April 2025, says it starts on the button, no missing parts, brakes and tyres are ok. I just rang up and spoke to him and he says he can't tell me anything that needs doing to it.

He then said he puts spares/repairs, etc to make sure the sold as seen thing is understood, but he is a dealer?

Now, for what I want, the warranty is irrelevant anyway, but it does make me wonder how legit the bloke selling is in general.

He also mentioned buying it was complicated because they bought it off a family member, divorce or death?, but a check of the MOT history shows nothing prior to April 2023 despite being a 51 plate... Get the running shoes out!

Could just be that he's had a nightmare with someone buying a 15 year old car from him that expected absolute perfection throughout. A lot of buyers are completely unrealistic.

If you fancy it I'd just go and give it a good going over like any other car. Just because they write "spares/repairs" in the advert doesn't mean it applies.

Dealer I know knocks out p-x's that he can't retail like this, normally to traders but if it's clear it's as disposal can't see any probs
