Temporary motor insurance for US visitor

Just wondered if anyone had done this recently and can offer a recommendation
I want to lend one of my cars to a US based relative who is visiting this week. US address, US passport, US driving license, but he's from the UK originally so knows how to drive here
I see plenty of insurers/brokers offering short term policies and have used some myself, but only ever for UK or European license holders
I assume if any NIP's turn up I would need to be able to evidence the car usage rather convincingly otherwise it would be the perfect excuse.

Why wouldn't you just add him as a named driver to your current policy?
They generally want a UK driving license number for any named driver as far as I can tell. And besides, if there was an incident giving rise to a claim, I'd rather it wasn't connected with my own policy.I'll keep looking.... if it's too much hassle they will just hire something via the normal route... but seemed daft paying through the nose for a s

Do share if you can. I'm a brit who moved to Canada, and I noticed something changed in the insurance industry a few years ago. When I first moved on trips back I could easily be added as a named driver on family cars. However a few years back they started saying nope, and friends had the same issue. Must have been some incidents I guess.

About 3 weeks back I did exactly this for a friend from Australia, he still has a UK driving licence so was able to use that number.
I found it the cheapest option was to add him as a named driver on my existing insurance, it came to just about £100.
Trying to get seperate temporary insurance for 28 days was coming up at around £250-350. (Fully comp was also coming up cheaper than just 3rd party)
(This was on an old 2.4 diesel V70 which is on a different policy to my other cars so only has 5 years no claims)

When you get to "add a driver" it only allows UK / EU and Commonwealth? And doesn't list US here: https://www.insuredaily.co.uk/non-uk-licence

I am interested as on of the companies in work with is a broker and this question pops up every so often and it would be easy if we had a number/website to hand.
And 100 quid a week on an M5 for a US national is an incredible deal.
