Skoda Superb SE - insurance refusal
Discussion
Hi all,
Has anyone ever had issues insuring Skoda Superb? Its a new car, and thus far 2 insurers have said they cannot insure the car. We have tried both mine and my partners details and getting the same issue. My partners insurers would renew his insurance on his current car but not entertain the Skoda. Does anyone know why it could they could be declining? Nothing is flagging on Experian, its not modified, not an import, no convictions etc. My concern is that there is an issue with the car that we don't know about.
Does anyone have any insights?
Thank you

And no - its not a hybrid its a diesel car..
If it isn't a hybrid of any sort then the insurer has just decided they don't want to cover that model, as for the reason well that could literally be anything as they never say why.Probably best option is to visit the insurance comparison sites to find an insurer who wants your business.
I've had this with gfs new car, a Kia Sportage Shadow Edition. Reg not recognised by current insurer and no option for Shadow Edition so they just can't do it. Ended up putting it on my multicar policy for the last 2 months, was no problem to find the car on that. Hopefully the insurance database will have been updated by then.

Not finding the registration on a database shouldn't be a block on getting insurance, pretty much every new car purchased gets insured before the plate appears on a database where the insurers can see it. Just bought a second had car that needed a private plate taken off so no record of plate available but still took out a policy on the car.FMOB said:

Every insurer I've dealt with needed a plate number. If it wasnt there then they couldnt insure it or would have to take out chassis insurance. How do they insure a new car without it being registered?

It was because they couldn't define the model as Shadow Edition. Tons of options for PHEV, mild hybrid and then the trims for each. But no mention of Shadow so they just couldn't do it. Ridiculous as its a bog standard car. They were happy to cancel the policy with no fee.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
