What’s the best way to do this? I’ve taken a deposit on a car, and buyer is planning to collect in a few days. I can apply online to retain the plate, but then the v5 will be effectively superseded…will the DVLA online system still let me transfer ownership using the V5?
You must remove the plate otherwise it passes to the new owner, you would then be in the realms of trusting the new owner to do the right thing. Get it done now :-)
New owner will have to wait for the new V5, should only take a week or so
