Ford Focus 2011 1.6 petrol: battery drain while driving….

….so suddenly no power steering. It happened a year ago so new alternator and battery but has just happened again. Luckily close to home, me driving.
This is dangerous! Wife’s car, she wouldn’t be able to strong-arm the steering…
Has anybody else experienced this? Suggestions as to the cause?
