What are your favourite car manufacturers?

I'm personally a big fan of Ford(or I was years ago anyway), and I'm also a big fan of BMW as well. I absolutely loved TVR prior to actually owning one too.
I've loved Ford's because of their RS and XR models etc, plus I've always been a fan of the V8 5.0 Mustang too. I also really like the way BMW's drive, and that generally attracts me towards them.
Plus of course I love TVR for their noise as well, and an honourable mention has to go to Nissan's sporty cars too(200SX/370Z etc).
So what are your favourite car manufacturers and why?

Alfa Romeo. I learnt to drive in my Dad’s early Alfasud. He had a thing for Italian cars. Lots of Fiats Alfas and the odd Lancia.
I’m on my 7th Alfa now, there’s 3 Fiats in the family and little Miss TypeR is named driver on my GTV ready for the drive down to Le Mans. Hopefully she will catch the bug too!

Tricky, because I like some brands but seriously dislike some of their products, and vice versa of course. But here goes:
Ferrari - but not any of their current cars. It's the brand and the heritage, plus their back catalogue.
Jaguar - ditto the above, but there is something lovely about a V8 Coupé with a leaper, or a lovely saloon car that makes the German seemed contrived. Speaking of which....
BMW - I like the principle of the company and I want them to build the best road cars, even if they don't. There is something wonderful about an M car (when done right), it's not the most powerful or the fastest, but it's a great thing to have fun with.
Audi - Quattro is a great word to have on a car with a decent 5 or 8 cylinder engine. Despite so much mediocre stuff starting with a Q, or diesel lies, I still like the core concept of a fast and understated Audi.
Alfa Romeo / FIAT - we have had a MiTo and a Guilietta, neither of which are brilliant, but they are loveable little things that put a smile on my face. Maserati did appear in my head, but I actually am not that taken with them and their more recent efforts look like rejected Hyundai concepts.
I've taken a glass half full approach here, and in doing so forgiving Ferrari for a V6 engine, or Audi for its crossovers, or BMW for, well, everything it's done lately. Whilst others might do it better, these manufacturers are the ones I want to succeed. If Ford or Vauxhall disappeared, I wouldn't be too fussed, but losing Jaguar is a really sad thing to me, even if it tried very hard to tell me I'm not it's target audience.

Ford will always be number one for me, such a broad range of iconic stuff made, from the first mass produced V8 introduced in the iconic 'Deuce' in 1932, through wartime mass production of the Jeep and the B-24 at the Willow Run factory, to making large numbers of RR Merlins at Fords Trafford Park factory. Iconic 50's designs like the original Ford Thunderbird. Then the heyday of Ford Dagenham in UK the 50's and 60's, with Zephyr/Zodiacs, through to the Cortina etc., plus the instigation of a worldwide blitz on motorsport on both sides of the Atlantic, and major victories in NASCAR, NHRA, Indy500, Sports/GT racing at Sebring and Lemans, Touring car racing first with Galaxie and Cortina, then Capri and finally Sierra (plus Falcon etc in Aus)
World rallying with Cortina and then the greatest rally car of all time the Escort, which over 50 years later people are still building as rally cars.
UK's best selling car, the Fiesta, and of course, the greatest object mover of all time, the Ford Transit.

I love a lot of the older Ferrari's too(F355 etc and older), plus I've also always loved stuff like the Lamborghini Coutach/Diablo etc. But I guess I've left them off my list because I can't afford to buy and run them though. They're fantastic brands to lust after though I think for sure.
