Look awful, rarely clean and equally a poor visibility colour in mist/fog.

Probably people got excited as it’s a new colour without having to take a risk of having a different or interesting colour.

I find it really strange as in my bracket of cars (shed money) bright or different colours always tend to have a premium.

So I can appreciate the point being made here, are we talking about colours like Porsche’s Crayon and BMW’s Brooklyn Grey? Sort of old fashioned “primer” grey?

Nardo grey was launched ~2013 so the pale grey thing has only been on the go for about 12 years. Looks good on some cases, less on others but that's personal preference. See also pale grey home furnishings, suits, shoes and hair colour.

I think it’s because white used to be the free colour, then it became popular and now is chargeable for lots of cars, and company cars and lease cars often won’t stretch to metallic paint, so this grey is now popular, it’s the standard colour for VWs, so then you see lots of car in it, then it will become popular and they’ll charge for it and a new colour will be the “free” one

Same reason you see loads of Skodas in blue, it’s the free colour.

Nardo grey was just a trendy colour, don’t see many new cars in that now.

Green is becoming popular again now

I was going to get my Clio in grey, I think it looks quite good. After seeing it in the metal I went for Black Gold instead, but still think the grey looks ace!

Crayon on 911 looks good IMO, but might look awful on a family car
