Any ideas? Ashtray cover is slightly convex so current suckered doesn't fit too well.

I want to infrequently use waze but don't want any damage to dashboard or trim..

This is where I'd like it

Something stuck on the windscreen rather than the dash? There are some very neat and small screen mounts around - particularly if your phone (or it's case) have a magnet.

Where you've put it is too low IMO and more dangerous to look at than necessary. Show us the upper dash and air vents.

It's a convertible so mounting it higher results in reflections.

I'm wary of damaging the vents.

I've used something like this in the past, which clamps into the CD slot on your dash

Try mounting it higher (like on the vents) but angling it downwards slightly. I have the screen in my Elise at dash-top level and have no problems with reflections.

Noted about the convertible but I think your best bet will be one that clips on to an air vent horizontal flap and gives you control over angles etc.

I have one like this, but it's just some generic one off Amazon rather than anything special.

I have an ultra cheap vent holder (£1.50?) in each of the cars... or, just to make those in that other thread grind their teeth, deployed in my fleet. biggrin

As a poster above says, just have it pointing downwards a little to avoid reflections.

Depending on how much you want to spend look at Brodit mounts - they are good but pricey.

For example if you ever saw a car with a dealer for Bluetooth screen thing popular back in the day it was probably mounted with a brodit kit.

Depends on the car but they normally fit between the main dash structure and the trim somewhere, then you buy the relevant attachment for the phone etc.

That looks pretty good actually, no idea they existed.

Would your sucker mount stick better to the Stereo screen? If you're not using it that much worth a try I'd say.

Have a look and see if https://www.brodit.co.uk/ do something for your car. A few with S1 Elise use them (off the back of your convertible point)

I use a quadlock with the mag mount suckered to the windscreen screen as low as possible next to the a-post on both my cars. Doesn't interfere with driving view, but good for a quick glance with nav. Not cheap with a corresponding case, but love that it's minimal fuss, phone just grabs on instantly.

As others have said, Quadlock is my go too!

Use a windscreen one in car, vent mount in my van, one on my motorbike and push bike etc. Not a cheap set up but I have had no problems - I like the Mag stuff for in the car but then the same case can be used with the locking type on the likes of a bike.

We had Brodit back in the day.

Pricey but bloody brilliant.

Belkin holders are very good too, various designs.

Had a screw tighten adjustable type that fits in cup holders, ideal for trucks, other use truck when i'm off shift so was removed and refitted 4 days every week it lasted some 5 years of rough use before the screw thread finally wore out, the holder itself still as good as new, bought another identical.

If you have MagSafe (recent iPhones), then Maus MagSafe vent mounts are good and won’t damage the vents in my experience (I use one in a Porsche) https://uk.mous.co/products/magsafe-compatible-car.... They sell versions with and without charging cable

I have a miracase 2 vent mounted holder and am very happy with it for £13. Hasn’t damaged the vents and you can tighten it up so it doesn’t wobble.
I bought it just to try it as I was thinking about one of those carplay screen jobbies. I don’t feel like I need the carplay now as i can see everything on my phone.
