Something different - Life in the Bronze Age
Discussion
Misses FSD bought me a day of doing an Ancient Metal works course at a place called Butser Ancient Farm in Hampshire.
The day started with five of us turning up, met by the leader of the course we trundled into the Bronze Age house.

First up was extracting some Copper....then we went onto Smelting to make brass to make a item.
They offered some Axe moulds but decided to make my own out of wood (Golf pitch repairer!) Yes will need some finishing lol.

It was a good day and recommended, your mind really got thinking about how they lived and I think I'll appreciate it far more when visiting museums now.
On the day it got absolutely boiling hot and I must had taken in a helluva lot of smoke and Fumes but well worth it, the instructor said using a Gas burner would save time but she preferred using the medieval approach to appreciate it, I reckon you'd cut about 3 hours off which would had been enough as we rotated doing the pumping between all of us and it did get a bit boring.
