Claims management companies

Having just had a non-fault claim, we've just used one that was sold (enthusiastically) to us by the main dealer.

The experience was so-so but the car was repaired quickly.

My assumption is that they make their money by claiming every last thing and getting kick-backs from suppliers, the final bill being settled by the party at fault.

Is there any more to it than that?
