We blow me out the park with a stick of dynamite up my ............

2014 AWD Kia Sorento

It's our 7 seater family car, tow car etc.

Nothing fancy, but a great car none the less.

Needs new discs and pads front and rear, a job i usually do myself.

Quotes range from £560 to best price £203 for front and rear discs and pads.

When did all these things become so expensive!!

Is that parts only, or labour included? If labour is included in that. It doesn’t surprise me.

203 doesn't sound excessive for discs and pads all round?

That's what I'm thinking as well. £50 per wheel for a brake disc and pads? Seems perfectly reasonable to me

That's got to be parts-only.

I just looked up what I'd do (pagid pads on pagid discs front and rear).
Not the cheapest place going, but for general info, ECP would have £475 off me just for those parts.

It's the prices of the discs that are pretty wild. £91.79 for a single front disc, £79.29 for a single rear one. Of course, double that for a pair.

Amusingly this little lot was actually cheaper at Halfords! smile

(@op - do you need to do brake sensors too?)

£203 sounds pretty cheap, given it's a big old tank of a car. £50 a corner is cheap.

I've always found ECP to be insanely expensive for discs, dunno why they charge so much (aside from gouging the desperate)

How much would the company you work for charge for an hour of your time? No not what they pay you.

Add the cost of parts, which the garage will buy reasonable quality parts they can guarantee.

This will give you an idea of the cost involved.

£203 is a very good price.

203 for a full set seems pretty reasonable to me?

My big old tank of a car is £150+ a corner parts only. BMW's old car discounted price to supply and fit all four corners is £1150 eek

As you say they feed off desperation. I needed clutch slave cylinder in short order on my E34 5 series (because I blew it up when pressure bleeding after changing the master). £92!

2016 Land Rover Disco Sport 7 seater...front and rear Bosch discs in my Autodoc basket are £191, but still to add pads, so that doesn't sound too bad actually for a similar sized vehicle.

Sounds like a bargain! I would have guessed a lot higher than £200.

If you want cheaper brakes, you'll need a smaller car.

£203 is fine - im happy with this.

I guess i was put out by the original quotes of £560 which seemed crazy high to me.

Agree - it's a big old car and tows a 2.5T with horses etc, so needs to be good brakes.

Best offer for me from MTEC brakes. Never heard of them, but they seem fine to me.

Any advance on this for a good price / supplier?

Thanks.

I’m in the “sounds cheap to me” camp.

Modern cars are heavier and more powerful than they once were. Consequently, they need descent brakes.

What price would the OP expect to pay?

Edit: looks like my Question was answered in the previous post.
