Automotive narcissism or influencer syndrome?
Discussion
Over the past couple of months I’ve joined a few car related groups on the book of faces. There appears to be a theme in a few of them with people constantly asking if anyone has taken pictures of their car in a specific place or at a meet.
Why do they care? They can see their own car whenever they like and in any setting they drive to, am I just so out of touch with social media or for some is being seen to own a nice car more important than driving it?

Or, even better, pay attention to the posts that you care about and ignore the rest. People that have a problem with FB and FB groups seem to struggle with this. I’m a member of many many groups. They’ve been very helpful. I just scroll by all the BS. Oh, except when Jaguar released their crazy branding ad, I enjoyed poking certain people!

Some people like to keep a folder of the car's history. Most people asking will just want attention but some may be asking because they want some different pictures for their folder. Why do they care? They can see their own car whenever they like and in any setting they drive to, am I just so out of touch with social media or for some is being seen to own a nice car more important than driving it?
Naturally, the proportion of people doing it for each reason will vary based on which type of car/group it is.

“Did anyone get any photos of my (insert distinctly average car) I left my phone at home” (blatant lie)
