Custom boot mat - carpet offcut but how to 'hinge'??

Bought a TT coupe as a general hack and intend to use it with the rear seats permanently down for dog transport. It's a massive boot and usefully completely flat but trying to work out how best to put a decent mat in there with some kind of barrier to parent the dog flying (or climbing) through to the front seats.

Currently thinking some form of frame wedged behind the front seats using black 21.5mm pvc tube and a suitable offcut of carpet cut to size with whipped edging. It needs to have a flap to fold over the boot opening to protect the lip/bumper so if I did that bit in carpet it needs to be regularly folded. I thought the flap would be best to be a separate piece and joined somehow to the main piece to act as a hinge.

Am I overthinking this, and/or better ideas or maybe some kind of custom made boot liner?!

Get a made to measure or "one size fits all" dog guard. Halfords probably sell them, extending centre posts fit the floor or rear deck or whatever and the tops press into the headlining. TBH wife had one in a Pug 405 and later a 306 and they weren't that secure but will stop them coming forward unless you emergency stop. Is there a couple of eyes/hooks in the back to attach restraints? We have our remaining dog hooked to the central seat belt using the attachment supplied with a harness.

What Skydriver said, + possibly add a cable tie around the metal headrest supports ( if your car has them) to minimise the chance of it ‘popping’ out of position.
