Vauxhall Warranty Query
Discussion
Asking on behalf of my ex who has had an issue with the AC compressor on a Vauxhall Mokka.
Car was purchased new (via PCP) in December 2021.
AC compressor failed in September 2024 and was replaced under warranty.
Compressor has failed again in the last few weeks and Vauxhall are claiming the car is out of warranty so they won't replace it. No accurate cost received yet but garage estimates around £1500.
Car is due to go back in December this year.
Do parts replaced under warranty not come with their own 12-month guarantee? Would my ex have any way to argue that there is clearly an inherent issue with the design/manufacture of this part if it has failed twice in a short time?
Would the finance company have any teeth in the matter?
Apparently the Vauxhall dealer is trying to speak with Vauxhall UK for a goodwill gesture, but I'm open to advice/suggestions/anecdotal information from anyone else who has had a similar issue. Thanks!

I'm sure parts are only covered for a 12 month period when purchased, not sure where I got that from but seem to think warranty stuff is done under warranty then continues with the warranty time.
Example being a new gearbox at 6 months old would not be covered for 12 months but the remaining 2.5 years.
I work in new car vehicle flow and lots if things are changed under warranty or recall before even being registered, they just remain as part of the warranty and no one knows a thing, not even the dealers.

Parts replaced under a new car warranty are only covered within the vehicle warranty period (that's what the warranty is for!)
You have not purchased a replacement part with its own warranty cover.
You can (reasonably) ask Vauxhall UK for a goodwill contribution if it's been serviced well etc. but no, you're not being treated unfairly or not in line with the warranty.
