Passat Estate- ex hire and high mileage - HELP PLEASE

Hello, looking to buy an approved used car but looking for some advice/comfort or if I should look elsewhere.
Car is a VW Passat Estate 1.5 tsi DSG ex-hire car (Arval to Enterprise) registered end of 2022, 41k miles.
It appears that it was under a variable/flexible service regime, 1st service at 14 months 20,326 miles at independent garage, 2nd at 14 months and 20,116 miles by VW.
Would be looking to take out all in plan after approved used warranty, so looking at 4 years warranty period possibly.
The warranty period is giving me comfort, but should I be worried about it being an ex hire. No need for the fastest car cliche, heard it before.

I personally would look elsewhere.
It's serviced on the cheap with daily driver changes, many of whom will be driving that type of car for the first time and won't care.
Edit - Google says 10k or every 12 months whichever comes first.
So it's missed its first service.

Hugo. Yes it's meant to be a variable/flexible service VW (and maybe some other makes, BMW) do for cars that will be predominantly sitting at motorway way speeds for large miles, with the recommended service 18,600 mile but up to about 20,000 miles, or less than 2 years.
I was thinking that a manual hire car would get more accidental or intended abuse than an automatic.
I've only ever been cautious with hire cars, but it won't be the same for everyone.

Hello, yes I phoned a few independent VW garages who checked the service history and advised that it is within VWs requirements and any warranty claims would not be rejected due to it.
I was suspicious, but after talking to a few other garages and with the potential for 4 years warranty I'm a bit more comfortable, but still slightly hesitant.

Nowt wrong with a ex-hire car if it all stacks up right.
Check EVERYTHING and look for poor damage repairs and whatnot.
Most hire cars will simply to get the person from A to B and whilst the odd renter may have ragged it, that in itself is no bad thing now and again - the old Italian tune up can be a good thing! And not being funny but it's not the kind of car that rewards 'enthusiastic' driving and it'll be more used to family duties than anything else.
Had an ex-hire a number of years back and it was one of the most reliable cars I had and whilst I got it under market price when buying it, I got full part-exchange value a few years later so was a pretty cheap ownership experience but do go to view it with your eyes wide open.

Why not ring up a different dealers service dept, give them the reg and say what are the service intervals?

I think it's only the UK that puts cars on fixed interval and that's often stated as 10K miles whereas in fact it's 15,000kms or 9375 miles while the car in in warranty.

There's not actually many about within 100 miles less than 3 years old. Looking for a large family wagon with large boot and rear seat space for rear facing child seats. You do have the warranty to fall back on if needed.
From what I understand, VW will pay for many claim up to the value of the vehicle on any repair (there are exclusions that you should read up on and understand).
However, you do need a helpful dealer should the need arise.

I bought a brand new Passat Estate 2.0TDI DSG in Jan 2020 as a University load lugger and family holiday car. At 3 years I bought the VW extended warranty and service plan. At the time there was a 25% off deal which meant servicing and warranty was ridiculosly cheap at ~ £25 pm. The car was required to be inspected by a dealer before the warranty could be activated, which it passed (I understand they no longer do this inspection). In the 103k, the car was utterly reliable with no faults whatsoever. I even went back to the main dealer for cambelt/waterpump and DSG flush as the fixed menu pricing was only tens of pounds more than independents.
At nearly 4 years and 103k, when it was obvious that the B9 Passat wasn't going to be available with a diesel, I bought a nearly new B8.5 with 600 miles on the clock in Dec 2024 as the next 10 year + car.

We have had 3 ex rentals in our extended family, and all turned out to be fine. Mileages were low when bought. Incidentally, I once used a Corsa courtesy car with a small notice which said this car must not exceed 11000 miles, so presumably the first service, in those days, was due at 10k. Another poster on a similar thread told that he had worked at one of the big name rental outfits. The posh cars were main dealer serviced, but the daily run-arounds got an oil and filter change from a man in a van or a local corner garage. Unsure how much this matters if new owner looks after the car. Some of the higher end ex- rentals are long term courtesy cars for a policy holder who has refused to drive a Micra while waiting for parts for an executive class car, or sometimes a huge SUV. The process has been lengthened as a result of waiting for parts for Korean and now, presumably Chinese parts following a ‘minor’ bump.
