When Speed limits no longer applied
Discussion
Not trying to restart a political Brexit battle but remembering the late 90s to early 2k s as a UK licence holder you could get away with a lot in Europe despite Tony Blair s best efforts at accord. I remember living in middle Europe, commuting between there and London was an utterly fantastic time. I m sure I hit 180 (kmh lol like fk) somewhere on route.
Purely starting a thread for reminiscing of course, great road trips never die they just fade away, well until next year at least!
Maybe one for the holidays thread, if so apologies pls move mods as required.

In about 2010 I drove a 600 bhp Kieeman SLK55AMG back from Crete to the UK and had 17 attempts in Italy to crack 200 mph. I had several forays into the 190s, but never did achieve the double ton, and still haven't, despite subsequent attempts more recently.
I don't let todays draconian f
kwittery stand too much in the way of trying to have fun, I'm too long in the tooth to accept any drivel about " speed kills ". If it did, I'd have been dead years ago. But I'm mindful of the out of proportion response to getting caught doing something that many would regard as the motoring equivalent of drug dealing nowadays.
I'll be on the IOM next month in something quick, having fun and rejoicing in the more broadminded and realistic approach to life the authorities have there, compared to this godforsaken s
thole and it's backward looking and thinking Govt with regard to progress and common sense.

speed doesnt kill, stopping quickly from speed is what kills, or seriously affects your life, i know, but due to all the idiots on the road who dont take risks seriously i can see why they have gone this route. they drive at 130 while filming it for t
t toc and have a crash and its not their fault, take responsibility for your actions. but i fear that ship has sailed.
There are plenty of places were high speed is ok, but unfortunately you have to aim for the lowest , and alot of drivers think they are senna, but sadly are not.
Education is whats needed not speed limits.

the problem is that education costs - and when you have a political mindset that is generally anti(private) cart, hat's 2 easy strikes
