Chatting to some friends last night about achieving 1 million miles in a lifetime of driving. I don’t think I’ll achieve it, what do you reckon your lifetime mileage will be. What have you driven so far?

I reckon I must be getting close now. A rough estimate would be at least 800k.

If you drive 60k miles a year, you need to drive for 50 years to hit 3 million, that's 230 miles a day if you drive 5 days a week.

How many miles a year do you drive a year?

For me, I only do 10-12k miles a year, so with 40 yrs of driving I'm probably around 400k miles.

No chance of getting to a million for me.

I did 40k miles for 10 years, 20k for 5 years, 10k maybe for the last 5 so that's 550k

Hopefully I'll be driving for the next 40 years, maybe averaging 10k as a maximum so I'll come up just short if my estimation is anywhere near close.

Certainly well over 3 million, in the 4 million park before i kick the bucket.
49 years full time driving artics, plus the years before driving vans long distance.

My own car mileage doubtful would reach 1 million.

Probably won't make a million, BUT I have done nearly 150k in rotaries, so that counts as double hehe

Doubt I'll even get to 500k in my lifetime. Probably do 6-7k a year.

I’m approaching half a million miles now, and given my current driving patterns I’ll probably hit three quarters of a million.

For me - Lets say 32 years of driving, and about 12k miles a year, with a few lower mileage and higher mileage years which effectively cancel themselves out, then I'd say I'm likely at around 350k-400k currently so I'm fairly sure that I'm not going to make 1 million. At best I may hit 750k but even that feels unlikely!

100k a year is a million each decade.

Probably a bit over half a million, I won’t add much more to that.

I've done million miles, I had a 20 year period of doing 35-40k per year commuting between the north/south plus another 16 years of more normal driving but still around 20k per year.

Same here. I’m nearly 40 now and have calculated I’ll have done around 150,000 so far. I feel bad for people that have to drive loads as it totally saps the fun out of driving.

It doesn't, I've had loads of fabulous drives all over the UK and Europe, if you don't do the miles you won't find the roads.

Same I do 80-100k a year and driving never gets boring. Driving a truck is a different skill set to driving a car and just as much fun can be had. Like seeing how far I can coast and timing it perfect for a roundabout with out using brakes. Reading the road correctly and moving lanes without having to slow down judging what the traffic is doing up ahead. Even driving through central London provides a fun challenge to avoid all the plebs.

I have started learning to fly too so no doubt my mileage will go up considerably in the not too distant future wink.
