Good morning. My father bought a Cat S damaged car a few months ago. We have since repaired the car, had it MOTd and taxed and insured it. Problem is my Dad has forgotten to send the logbook off. If he sends it off now, will the change of keeper void the 6 months tax? And if so, who will be refunded the cost?
Many Thanks

Reading between the lines, I presume your dad taxed it using the v5 still in the name of the previous owner? If so, dvla would send the tax refund as a cheque (remember those?!) to the previous owner’s address.

Worth also making sure that the car is insured correctly since your dad is not the current registered keeper.

Thanks for the reply. Yes that’s correct, car was taxed using the old log book details. Looks like the previous keeper will be getting a nice cheque through the post.
