Stolen car keys - 'reprogramming' car locks?
Discussion
A colleague's wife had her bag stolen yesterday which included her car keys and driving licence (so location of car could be easily found - theft in London, car on the south coast, so they probably won't bother).
He asked me, as he knows I'm into motorcars, if you can just re-program the car (a Hyundai) so the stolen 'keyless' key is worthless?
I know you can create new keys/fobs easily enough, but no idea if you can 'turn off' old keys.
Any ideas?

Yes, normally when coding a new key you can delete the old keyHe asked me, as he knows I'm into motorcars, if you can just re-program the car (a Hyundai) so the stolen 'keyless' key is worthless?

There are quite a few companies that can help, we used https://www.ogsmechanics.com/auto-locksmith/ when we lost our car keys, the fob had a blade key and keyless entry so both the mechanical and electronic locks were replaced. Not cheap but if you're stuck it's worth the peace of mind.
