Hello everyone.

Bought an Approved Used Car from a Main Dealer six weeks ago.

A funny noise has started coming from the front wheel / steering wheel area but only mild.

For peace of mind I do want it looking at A.S.A.P, but the Dealer I bought the car from is 3 hours away, and I don't have any holidays left at work and can't be without a car, if they can't give me a courtesy car.

So I wondered if, if I got a local garage to inspect the car and carry out a hopefully minor repair, would this affect the 12-months Approved Used Car Warranty the manufacturer has given me on the car?

I know I could phone up the Main Dealer and / or a local garage and just ask, but I often find it's hard to get through switch boards and people sound like I've called them at a bad time and don't really give me supportive information.

Thankyou

ARHarh

If you don't tell the dealer / warranty company they will never know. If you try to get the dealer to pay for the repair it may be a very different issue.

Phone the MD from whom you bought the car and take it from there.
Is there another Main dealer nearer you as it may be possible to take it there instead.

If it's an AUC car then you can take it to any dealer of that marque...not just the one you bought it from.

But yes, you could take it to a local independent to 'have a look' for purely diagnostic purposes...or you could call your breakdown/warranty assist service to say you're worried and can they send someone to look.

But if you book it in at a dealer, and depending on the marque, you'll be lucky to get a courtesy car unless you book it 3 months ahead. In fact I find it easier/cheaper to arrange an Enterprise hire car to be brought to me at the dealership, so that I don't have to pay the dealer's 'admin/insurance' charge or be limited to 30 miles on the courtesy car.
