How to get car back
Discussion
Our Mercedes is with a local car restorer. He has now had it for 4 years and 8 months. We have heard several times we would have it back “ by late spring”, by summer” and last year “well before Christmas”. When i said my patience was running thin and we needed a completion date, i got an aggressive response threatening to dump it on our drive “in bits.”We have seen it, and it basically needs to be assembled which he said would only take another week or two. That was September last year. How do we go about getting it back in a driveable condition? He is registered as a business. Surely there must be someone we can approach who will give him a final date to stick to? Our communication has only been met with broken promises for over 4 years. We have paid out a 5 figure sum to this man over the years he has had our car. He has taken on many other jobs after ours. Any advice on how to get our car back will be gratefully received.

There’s a similar thread on here from the past, but I can’t find it. Perhaps someone else can.
All I’d say is make sure you have everything written down (from now, if not before), and contact a solicitor.

Found this one via Google - similar if not identical.
