Hi all, new member here. So I took my 2004 Mk3 2.0 TDCI 130ps Mondeo to Halfords (I know, I know) for it's mot and they've failed it on emissions. The thing is, they failed it on: Exhaust on a vehicle fitted with a diesel particulate filter emits visible smoke of any colour (8.2.2.2 (d)), but it isnt fitted with a DPF and they didn't check the oil temp either. Now I'm not an MOT tester, but surely checking a car as DPF enabled when it's not will give incorrect readings?

It did fail on a split CV boot as well which I accept, but they also said rear nearside brake light not working, it is. It had an oil & filter's change three days before the MOT if that helps. Can any MOT tester's tell me any info on this please? Thanks for any help.

Should your car have a DPF? i.e. have you removed it?

The mk3 Mondeo was never fitted with a dpf.
